Sant’Anna Water was the first brand in the world to launch a 1.5-litre biodegradable and compostable mineral water bottle in the mass market. The bottle is compostable when disposed of at appropriate industrial composting facilities after being separated from the plastic cap.

While the general trend among beverage producers has been to gradually reduce the amount of plastic used in packaging, Sant’Anna Water has committed to a true packaging revolution by launching, at the end of 2008, an experimental test phase for the first 1.5-litre bottle made from a special bioplastic derived from the polymerization of lactic acid obtained through the fermentation of certain plants (corn, tapioca, and sugar cane).
