The water with very low fixed residue Essential to life, water in all its forms, compositions and qualities is a precious resource for the entire planet and for each and every one of us. Depending on our age, our bodies are made up of between 50% and 70% water, and in children this percentage can sometimes rise to as much as 75%. For proper water turnover and balanced daily hydration, the average adult’s requirement is around two litres a day. We can say that if water is the source of life, the quality of our lives depends on the quality of the water we drink. There are many types of water, each special, each different. Sant’Anna Water is the natural mineral water most loved by Italians, and is also chosen across Europe and the rest of the world, because it tastes good and has qualities that set it apart, making it good for our bodies too. Sant’Anna Water has always promoted the transparency of the values shown on the label, allowing everyone to know, understand, and choose water based on its qualities. The lower the fixed residue, the lighter the water. By dry residue, we mean the quantity of mineral salts dissolved in water. Imagine bringing the water to a boil (100 °C) and then drying it at a temperature of 180 °C. What remains after evaporation is the dry residue.Natural mineral waters are classified according to the amount of dry residue: they range from waters rich in mineral salts (1500 mg/l and above), to moderately mineralized waters (from 501 to 1500 mg/l), and oligomineral waters (< 500 mg/l).To be defined as a very low mineralized water, the amount of dry residue must be less than 50 mg per litre. Very low mineralized waters are light waters (that is, with a low content of mineral salts), which promote diuresis; they are ideal for daily consumption and are often recommended for preparing food for infants. The lower the nitrate content, the purer the water. Nitrates are stable salts found in both mineral waters and in vegetables and meats. High concentrations and nitrate levels in water indicate the presence of a sign of pollution, in the soil, air, or the surrounding environment of the source. In Italy, the safety limit for nitrates in mineral waters must, according to the law, be below 45 mg/l, while for water intended for infants it must be <10 mg/l. The closer the value is to zero, the further the water is from sources of pollution. Sant’Anna Water originates at high altitudes, in an uncontaminated and pristine territory; its nitrate level is among the lowest of Italian waters: 0.89 mg/l. The lower its sodium content, the more suitable the water is for daily consumption. Sodium is an essential element for maintaining the proper balance of our metabolism and should be consumed in the right quantities. Sodium-rich waters, with a sodium content above 200 mg/l, are recommended for people who practice sports activities. Low-sodium waters (less than 20 mg/l) are recommended for daily needs, for weight-loss diets, and for people suffering from high blood pressure. They are also ideal for promoting drainage and diuresis. Sant’Anna natural mineral water from the Rebruant spring has a VERY LOW SODIUM CONTENT: 1.5 mg/l. It is suitable for low-sodium diets. The lower the hardness, the softer the water. Water hardness is expressed in French degrees and indicates the total content of calcium and magnesium salts found in the water. Medium or high levels of hardness can also cause changes in the taste of water. Based on the hardness value, water is therefore classified as: very hard (30° and above), hard (20° to 30°), moderately hard (10° to 20°) and soft (0° to 10°).
